Thru Venetian Glass
1990 57hx44w
A remnant of hand block printed fabric bought in Venice had been pinned up in my studio for a long time. It was very worked-over, moody and elegant. The pattern is probably universal, a twice bisected circle within a square. From this influence came a full quilt, Sidewinder, and, no doubt, this one as well. Another element in the decisions on color and texture in this quilt was the availability of bleached batiks from Indonesia.
